Why has the Banknote Conference been postponed?

Banknote Conference put the health and welfare of participants and the local host community at the forefront of its decision making. The increasing risk assessment regarding the spread and the travel restrictions that are changing daily led us to take this decision. We are also aware that domestic and international restrictions being imposed were impacting the ability of many colleagues to attend.

When and where the event will the event take place?

Instead of cancelling the event, the Renaissance Washington, D.C. Hotel has supported us to postpone the Banknote Conference to November 2-5, 2020.

I am a current Banknote Conference 2020 paid delegate – now that the event has been postponed to November what do I need to do next?

You will only need to reschedule your airfare and hotel reservations. Your registration has been carried forward. You will not need to re-register yourself for the conference. You will receive a new registration confirmation email with the new dates soon.

Will my airfare and other travel expenses be reimbursed?

No, travel and associated expenses are not refundable. We kindly ask you to seek advice and compensation through your own travel insurance or travel agent. We encourage you to call your airline and explain the situation to change your ticket bookings. We apologize for the inconvenience and challenges this may cause you.

Do I need to apply for new visa?

Likely, yes. As your visa was related to the conference dates in May, it is possible that you will need to apply for new visa for the new dates. Please check your visa dates and check with your local Consulate as soon as possible to avoid last minute visa issues closer to conference time in November.

I made a room reservation at the hotel – what do I need to do next?

The hotel will be cancelling all the sleeping rooms booked through our link on March 10, 2020. If you did not receive a cancellation email, please contact Britnee Hursin. You will need to re-book your hotel room at the hotel once you have updated your flight information.

The hotel booking link will be shared with you by email soon. If you have booked outside of the room block, you will need contact the hotel or your booking agent directly.

What is your cancellation policy?

50% refund of fees if written cancellation notice is received between 8 weeks and 4 weeks prior to conference commencement.

No refund of fees for cancellation within 4 weeks of the conference commencement.

A 10% late payment penalty may be applied to pay fee or part fee outstanding at the start of the conference.

Substitutions may be made at any time, before the start of the conference at no additional charge.

Is it still safe to travel to United States if I want to meet partners even if Banknote is not being held in being held in May?

The decision to travel is your choice and you are responsible for your safety abroad. Please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organizations (WHO) website for the latest information.

What precautions will Currency Research take to ensure the safety of delegates in light of the coronavirus outbreak?

We are closely monitoring the rapidly changing coronavirus situation with the hotel to ensure all practical steps are in place to address the health and safety of our attendees on-site.
